Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice is provided by StandInParent LLC ("StandInParent", "we", "us"). We are the data controller for the personal data we collect through the StandInParent website and the Beacon service (the "Service"). You can reach us at support@standinparent.com.

Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:

• Account data — your email address, sign-in credentials, and display name when you create an account;
• Content you provide — the parenting situations you describe, follow-up messages, message drafts you ask Beacon to review, family-member profiles, and the family facts Beacon remembers at your direction;
• Co-parent content — if you're invited via an Other Parent's Take link, the take you submit and the name you give;
• Support messages — anything you send us directly;
• Usage and technical data — basic telemetry such as pages visited, device type, browser, and IP address, used to keep the Service secure and working well.

Payment data (card numbers, billing address) is collected directly by our Merchant of Record, Paddle, and is not stored by us.

• To provide the Service — generating Beacon's answers, saving your situations, remembering your family facts (legal basis: performance of our contract with you);
• Security and fraud prevention — protecting accounts and the Service (legal basis: legitimate interests);
• Product improvement — understanding how the Service is used, in aggregate, to make it better (legal basis: legitimate interests);
• Customer support — responding when you contact us (legal basis: legitimate interests / contract);
• Legal obligations — where the law requires us to keep or disclose data.

Where we rely on consent (for example, optional marketing emails), you can withdraw it at any time.

We share personal data only with the categories of recipients we need to run the Service:

• Service providers and subprocessors — hosting, database, authentication, analytics, and the AI model provider that generates Beacon's answers, all under contractual data-protection obligations;
• Merchant of Record — Paddle, for the sale of StandInParent+, subscription management, payments, tax compliance, and invoicing;
• Professional advisers — lawyers and accountants, where needed;
• Authorities — where required by law or to protect rights and safety.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share your situations or family information with other users — including your co-parent — except for the specific content you choose to share through the Other Parent's Take feature.

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active or as long as needed to provide the Service. When data is no longer needed — for example, after you delete your account or a saved situation — we delete or anonymise it within a reasonable period, except where the law requires us to keep it (such as transaction records held by Paddle).

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access your personal data; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to its processing; receive a portable copy of it; withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and complain to your local supervisory authority. To exercise any of these rights, email support@standinparent.com. We respond within one month.

You can delete any fact Beacon has remembered about your family at any time from your Family pages.

Some of our service providers process data outside your country, including outside the UK/EEA. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions.

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encryption in transit, row-level access controls on your saved data, and restricted internal access. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your family's information.

We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your guest work on your device. We may use privacy-respecting analytics cookies to understand aggregate usage. We do not use third-party advertising or marketing trackers. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings.
