Terms & Conditions

Last updated: September 2, 2026

1. Who you are contracting with

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") are an agreement between you and StandInParent LLC ("StandInParent", "we", "us", "our"). By accessing or using the StandInParent website and the Beacon service (together, the "Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

You confirm that you are at least 18 years old and, if you use the Service on behalf of an organization, that you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. What the Service is

Beacon is an AI-powered parenting-perspective tool. You describe a situation involving your child or family, and Beacon generates a structured perspective: what it thinks is going on, a recommendation, and suggested words to use. Optional features include saving situations, family profiles and memory ("Family Memory"), message-draft review ("Before I Send This"), and, on the paid StandInParent+ plan, the Other Parent's Take comparison.

Beacon's output is generated by an artificial-intelligence model. It is perspective and general guidance only — it may be inaccurate or incomplete, and it is not medical, psychological, psychiatric, or legal advice, and not a substitute for professional advice. Never disregard or delay seeking professional care because of something Beacon said. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service. That includes:

  • Using the Service for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive;
  • Harassing, defaming, or abusing any person, or generating hate speech;
  • Infringing anyone's intellectual-property or privacy rights;
  • Introducing malware, probing or testing vulnerabilities, scraping the Service, or otherwise interfering with its security or operation;
  • Attempting to jailbreak, reverse-engineer, or extract the Service's models, prompts, or systems;
  • Reselling, redistributing, or commercially exploiting the Service without our written consent;
  • Submitting content you don't have the right to share.

You are responsible for the situations, prompts, and messages you submit, for how you use Beacon's output, and for verifying anything that matters before acting on it.

4. Your content and intellectual property

We own the Service and all related intellectual property — the software, models, documentation, branding, and playbooks we publish. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service within your selected plan.

Your situations, messages, and family information remain yours. You grant us a limited license to host, process, and transmit that content solely to provide the Service to you (for example, to generate Beacon's answers and to remember facts about your family at your direction). Suggested scripts and other output are provided for your personal use within the Service.

If you believe content on the Service infringes your rights, contact us at support@standinparent.com and we will review and, where appropriate, remove or restrict the content. Repeat infringement may lead to account termination.

5. Accounts and credentials

Some features require an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep it up to date, keep your sign-in credentials confidential, and accept responsibility for all activity under your account. Tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorized use.

6. Content moderation

We may remove or restrict content, filter or refuse to generate outputs, or suspend accounts where we reasonably believe content or conduct violates these Terms, poses a risk to others, or is illegal. Where we can, we'll tell you and let you appeal.

7. Billing, subscriptions, and Paddle

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.

When you buy a StandInParent+ subscription, your payment, billing, taxes, cancellation and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms at https://www.paddle.com/legal/checkout-buyer-terms, in addition to these Terms.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; your paid features remain active until the end of the period you've paid for. See our Refund Policy for refunds.

8. Service level

We work hard to keep the Service available, but we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always accurate. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

9. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms, fail to pay amounts due, present a security or fraud risk, or repeatedly or seriously violate our acceptable-use rules. You may stop using the Service at any time. On termination, your paid access ends, and you may export or request deletion of your saved situations and family data for 30 days, after which it may be deleted.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, StandInParent LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages — including lost profits, lost data, or loss of goodwill — arising out of or related to the Service. Our aggregate liability to you is capped at the total fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for fraud, death, or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your unlawful use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.

11. General

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which StandInParent LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. We are not liable for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control. If any part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

Questions? Contact us at support@standinparent.com. We may update these Terms from time to time; continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the new Terms.
